The mission of Communally is to assist low- and moderate-income individuals and families to move from the Crisis of poverty to being able to make real Choices in their lives, in other words, to end poverty. To achieve this, Communally combines innovative technology, public policy expertise, and community outreach to deliver uniquely successful web-based services, The Benefit Bank® (TBB) and MyBudgetCoach® (MyBC).
 
 
Communally recognizes that a vital component to ending poverty is building vibrant communities. For this reason, the company has taken a leadership role in the sustainable business community of the Philadelphia region. Communally holds a broad view of what it means to be sustainable that encompasses the economic needs of low-income urban and rural communities, the equitable capital requirements of social impact companies, the recognition that workers must balance effort with replenishment to avoid burn out, as well as environmental stewardship.
 
 
The effectiveness of its services in the communities in which they are utilized is constantly measured by Communally to demonstrate their impact. TBB is revolutionizing how low- and moderate-income Americans can access work and income supports including tax credits and refunds, student financial aid, and benefits such as food, medical, cash, heating, and disability assistance. It is the only online service that offers benefits eligibility screening, benefits application filing and IRS-certified tax assistance and filing service on a single streamlined platform.
 
 
TBB, tailored to the needs of each state’s residents, is used in over 6,000 community-based and social service agencies, community colleges and hospitals.. By July 2017, TBB had assisted over 1 million household members across 10 states obtain an estimated $2.5 billion in benefits and supports. In active TBB states, it is estimated that the return on investment for every $1 invested in TBB technology, operations and community outreach is up to $43 for benefits and supports received by individuals.
 
 
The MyBC financial coaching platform helps low- and moderate-income families improve their overall financial health by giving them the tools, knowledge, and skills necessary to make well-informed financial decisions. 
 
 
MyBC is the only online financial coaching platform with an independent evaluation supporting its effectiveness conducted by the Center for Financial Security at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. It is used by over 100 non-profit and employer-based financial coaching and counseling organizations in the United States and South Africa to help families increase savings, decrease debt and achieve financial goals while working with a trained financial coach. The MyBC platform has been proven to be successful at improving the financial health of low- and moderate-income individuals. In the University of Wisconsin-Madison study, collectively the 300 participants saved almost $125,000 and paid down over $75,000 in personal debt.
