The Philadelphia Chamber Music Society was founded in 1986 and serves the Greater Philadelphia region and the field of music by presenting a rich and compelling variety of chamber music and recital programs performed by exceptional international and Philadelphia-based artists at affordable prices ($24 or less), while promoting new music and music education, collaborating with regional cultural and educational institutions, and providing high quality customer service to our audiences. PCMS is committed also to helping inspire young people and develop future classical music audiences through a multifaceted educational program that includes free children’s concerts, in-school master classes and seminars, a free student ticket program and pre-concert lectures. The “Social Series” at the American Philosophical Society brings together leading concert artists and Philadelphia’s finest purveyors of food and drink for 16 gourmet tasting events, creating a convivial, “salon-style” atmosphere in Old City. As a member of the Sustainable Business Network, the Series presents a unique platform for like-minded local businesses to interact with the PCMS audience while enhancing the concert experience for patrons. During the past six years, the Series has featured over 100 local businesses, introducing our patrons to the artisans of the city–from cheesemongers, brewers, chocolatiers, vintners, bakers, coffee roasters and more. As the representative for the Termini Brothers Bakery reflected, “this is a wonderful collaboration because the music being presented and the pastries we bake are both made by hand and with care for the artistry involved.”
